The euro has fallen against the strong US dollar, making it more affordable to take a trip to Tuscany, Italy!

You and your friends can visit Tuscany, and stay in your own villa, like this one...

(one of our villas)

"Looks nice, but what will this trip cost?"

You'll need airfare, a rental car, lodging, and meals.

1. Airfare. I just checked airfares for a weeklong trip from Chicago to Pisa Airport (which is about 30 minutes from our villas). You can see, fares run about $1,250. This is a typical summer/fall price. (From New York, tickets cost less).

2. Rental car. To travel properly in Tuscany, you'll need a rental car, because most of the unique and beautiful places you'll want to visit, aren't covered by train service. We recommend renting a smaller car for every 2-4 guests in your group. (Don't worry, driving in Tuscany is very calm - unlike Rome or Naples, for example). You simply reserve your car in advance, pick up your car at the airport on arrival and drive back to the airport after your vacation. Pisa Airport has all the major rental companies, like Avis and Hertz.

I just checked weekly prices. Here are a few choices. You'd put two guests in the Volkswagen, three in the Opel, or four in the Mercedes. That works out to between $140-323/person/week. Add a full tank of gas, and you'll spend $200-400/person/week for the car.

3. Next, you'll need a place to stay. That's where we can help!

In my opinion, you will NEVER get the true feel of Italy, staying in a hotel. Instead, you and your friends can rent your own private villa in Tuscany.

It costs about the same as a mid-level hotel, but is MUCH nicer, and you'll be living like the Italians.

We have 8 properties in Tuscany, in the best locations, and they are absolutely beautiful.

We rent Saturdays to Saturdays, and our website lists prices and availability.

You rent the whole villa, just for your group. The villas are various sizes. sleeping from 4 - 22, so you can pick a villa to suit the size of your group. We have lots of groups of two or three couples, or grandparents that bring kids and grandkids, or big groups of 6 or 7 couples, or two or three families.

Prices are for the full villa for your group, and vary by season and also by villa.

In general, prices range from US$80-110/night/person, so about $560-840/week/person.

Our villas are all beautiful and historic and in the best locations!

Here are a few photos of our villas... you can see them all by clicking 'Our Villas' at the top of the page, or clicking here for our home page ... www.DoWhatYouLoveinItaly.com.

Our booking process is simple. Check out our villas and write us with questions. Once you're ready to reserve, I'll mark your dates as 'Reserved' on the website, and send a Booking Contract which has the all terms of the rental, for your review. I'll also send two invoices via our billing service -- one for the 50% deposit, which confirms the reservation, and one for the balance, which is due eight weeks before the rental. We can accept payment via credit card, wire transfer, or check. Payment of the deposit confirms the reservation -- we'll mark your week as 'Booked' on the website, send you directions and other materials, and you'll be all set.

4. Last, you'll need to eat. And of course, this is Italy, so you'll eat really well. With the strong dollar, prices are really reasonable.

Each villa has a beautifully equipped kitchen, in case you want to cook...

You might want to eat out, too. At a family restaurant, a meal with pasta course, meat course, vegetable, wine, water, coffee, and limoncello typically costs about 15-20 euros (US$16-21). Pizza and wine will run about US$10. Of course, there are Michelin-rated gourmet restaurants, too if you like.

Italian breakfast??? One of the great bargains on earth...

The classic Italian breakfast of cappuccino and a pastry is served with a china cup, real spoon, and a smile. Cost $3!

And wine?... one fun thing to do... there are small shops near our villas, where the local farmers bring their wine to sell. It is amazingly delicious, and costs about $3-5/bottle. You can bring your empty bottles, and pour straight from the barrel. And you can find Vino Nobile di Montepulicano, Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti, and Colline Lucchese wines everywhere.

For meals, we estimate you'll spend only about $200/person more than you'd spend at home for the week. Of course, if you're interested in fine dining, there are many many options.

So, to total the trip's cost ...

airline ticket $1,250

rental car $200-400

rental villa $560-840

meals $200

GRAND TOTAL... $2,210 - $2,690 per person per week.
